Springbok Women determined to topple mighty Canada

A new chapter is opening for Africa’s Digital Creators—and it’s being written by three men who know the power of influence.
VELUM Studios, co-founded by viral YouTuber Gilmore and music industry insiders Godfrey and Giovanni, has just launched the VELUM Creators Hub 2025.
Their mission is to give Africa’s untapped creative talent the tools, team, and visibility they need to make it big—on their own terms.
The studio is based on a simple truth: Africa has the talent, but not always the support.
“We’ve seen so many creatives with massive potential, but no access to resources or a roadmap,” says Gilmore, who blew up during the pandemic with over 100,000 YouTube subscribers and millions of views.
“Our goal is simple—to show creators you don’t need limitless resources to succeed. You need an idea, the courage to execute it, and the right support system. At VELUM Studios, we provide exactly that.”
The timing couldn’t be better. Africa’s creative and Digital Economy is booming. With over 570 million people online and social media use growing fast, digital storytelling is becoming a real career path. Still, too many creators struggle to break through, especially on global platforms. VELUM wants to change that.
In the next year, the studio aims to sign and develop up to 100 digital creators. The plan is to equip them with in-house experts—videographers, photographers, marketing strategists, publicists—and push their work to global audiences. It’s not just about getting views (though the studio’s aiming for hundreds of millions of them). It’s about building careers.
“Think of it as Africa’s own creative engine,” says Giovanni. “We’re not waiting for opportunities to come from the outside anymore. We’re building the infrastructure right here.”
VELUM Creators Hub isn’t just a content house. It’s a full-scale launchpad for voices that deserve to be heard—from style vloggers in Lagos to comedians in Nairobi to cultural commentators in Johannesburg.
And unlike traditional talent incubators, it’s rooted in the continent’s Unique Culture And Rhythm.
“This is the first initiative of its kind,” adds Godfrey. “We’re creating structure where there was none, so that local talent can grow within the global digital economy—and thrive.”
VELUM Studios is betting on creators who are ready to turn passion into profession. For those who’ve been waiting for the right break, it might just be here.
