Springbok Women determined to topple mighty Canada
Springbok Women captain Nolusindiso Booi said her team will enter Loftus Versfeld with excitement and determination when they face Canada at 13:30 on Saturday.
Motaung will have even more of an interest in this subject with Kaizer Chiefs part of next season’s Confederation Cup and potentially adding to their load.
The issue around scheduling was evident in the PSL as Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and Stellenbosch constantly had to play catch-up.
Motaung provided a lengthy list of matters to be brought to CAF’s attention.
"Us, as ACA, see a number of things we need to talk about and improve, one of things is scheduling. I also think it's important for us to start looking at the leagues, examine how strong they are, and what can be done to improve them," said ACA's deputy chairperson.
She adds that ACA believe they will have the ear of CAF president Patrice Motsepe, given his background in club football.
"President Patrice Motsepe understands the challenges and costs of running a big club, and managing the costs of being in a tournament of this nature, and the fact that CAF has come in and increased the prize money by 100%, and given clubs that participated in the prelims- 50 000 USD, goes a very long way.
Motaung wants to build on the milestones CAF has achieved since Motsepe took over, one of them being the broadcast element.
"Television has played a key role, and many broadcasters have come on board, which gives access to a wider support base. The broadcast element advertises African football, which allows us to receive the investment, as well as to scout and showcase the very best African football talents."
With CAF unveiling a new Champions League trophy this week, Motaung is confident this is proof yet again of the organisation’s commitment.
