Former Springbok Cornal Hendricks dies aged 37

JOHANNESBURG - Former Springbok wing Cornal Hendricks has died at the age of 37.

It's believed he suffered a heart attack on Wednesday evening.

The Paarl-born speedster made his Bok debut in 2014 and donned the green and gold 12 times until 2015, scoring five tries.

He first developed heart problems in 2016.

At the time, he had signed a two-year deal with the Stormers, but couldn't play for the Cape side, due to the ailment.

Hendricks' condition also affected a deal with French Top14 giants Toulon, with the disappointment forcing him to retire at 27.

The former Boland and Cheetahs star received a second medical opinion and following improvements in his health, he returned to the game with the Bulls in 2019, where he made 115 appearances and scored 34 tries.
