Springbok Women determined to topple mighty Canada
Springbok Women captain Nolusindiso Booi said her team will enter Loftus Versfeld with excitement and determination when they face Canada at 13:30 on Saturday.
Reflecting on his journey, Kwesta acknowledges the evolution of his role in the industry. "There was a point where I couldn't stop everyone from calling me 'big bro.' I tried—I was in denial," he admits.
Now embracing the title, he positions himself as a mentor and contributor to the culture, offering guidance through his music.
The Big Bro Theory marks Kwesta's return after a period of introspection. "I have never left, but I had just not been releasing music. That doesn't mean I did not work. I have always been working," he explains.
This album is not about re-entering the limelight but about adding something meaningful to the culture. This newfound purpose is evident in his music, where he aims to inspire his children and the next generation to stay true to themselves.
The Katlehong born artist who locally is regarded as the King in Hip-hop circles emphasizes authenticity in his work."I try to remain grounded and speak from the heart. I'm not trying to chase trends. I'm just trying to tell my story, my way," he says.
He believes that people can feel when something is genuine and that authenticity is everything to him.
Kwesta takes pride in his work and admits that he has changed but he remains authentic. "I evolved, but I stayed true. I think that's what growth is—it's not about changing who you are, it's about becoming more of who you've always been," he reflects.
The Big Bro Theory is a personal project for Kwesta. "This Album came from a very personal place. I didn't set out to make a project. I was just recording, expressing myself," he reveals. "Over time, the recordings formed a cohesive theme centred around reflection, growth, and authenticity," he adds.
As Kwesta steps into his "big bro" era, he continues to influence and shape South African hip-hop, staying true to his roots while embracing growth and change.
