New Music Friday: Exclusive with Singer&Songwriter, Ranwin Le-Roy
From the soulful strength of “I Am Enough” to the unfiltered vulnerability of “Cried”, Ranwin Le-Roy has never been afraid to show us his heart.
Zee Nation Fest 2025 wasn’t just about music, it was a full-blown fashion spectacle. Returning for its second year after the phenomenal success of last year’s debut, the festival once again transformed Nasrec in Johannesburg into a playground for style, sound and self-expression.
The dress code for the day? Three distinct themes for fans, affectionately known as “besties” to choose from: Carnival, Pink, and Into the Wild. And the besties delivered in spectacular style. From feathered headdresses and beaded bodysuits to head-to-toe animal prints and bubblegum-pink glam, the crowd looked like a runway in motion.
DJ Zinhle, the queen of the night, took her style game to another level with ten outfit changes. She moved seamlessly between bold stage-ready pieces and statement looks, including a dramatic cape emblazoned with the faces of her closest friends, mirrored in giant screen visuals.
Nomuzi leaned into the Carnival theme with an Embellished Bodysuitlayered with cascades of fringe, while Thabsie stunned in a sleek, floor-length pink coat paired with crystal-studded bra and cowboy hat, a nod to old-school glamour with a modern twist.
The besties were every bit as fashionable as the performers, turning the festival grounds into a colourful, themed style parade. Leopard print co-ords, sequined masks, layered tulle skirts, neon feathers, every outfit was a testament to the creativity of Zinhle’s fan base.
While the fashion commanded the spotlight, the music brought the energy. Performances from Zee Nxumalo, Sbu Noah, Nadia Nakai, Nokwazi, Khanyisa, Brenden Praise, Big Zulu, Elaine and Nkosazana Daughter kept the crowd moving. DJ Zinhle’s own set featured tracks from her latest album Zee Nation Volume 1, with live performances from Thabsie, Sfundo, Liyema Pantsi, Mthunzi, Sweet Guluva and Brenden Praise, and yes, she joined in the choreography.
Zee Nation Fest 2025 proved that when it comes to combining fashion, music and fan culture, no one does it quite like DJ Zinhle.
