Proteas Women batter Tazmin Brits says 2025 might be the year to claim ICC World Cup glory for the first time.
The national team heads to Durban on Friday to resume with their final preparation phase, with the World Cup taking place in India in less than 6 weeks.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Brits says the team upholds a positive mindset and believes they are capable of returning home with a trophy this time around.
"I am probably one of the positive people to always say that, I think we're gonna win the World Cup and I still believe that. If you don't think you're gonna win at the end of the day you're in the wrong game,” Brits said.
“So, hopefully, the expectation from my side is that the girl's team or the women's team can actually bring the trophy back this time.”
Cricket South Africa also made an announcement that their long standing partnership with KFC Africa has been renewed and also extended to include the women’s national team.
Brits says this partnership will help emerging cricketers to achieve their goals.
"I think it's a great partnership from KFC, in general KFC has actually been part of cricket for a very, very long time. For them to actually contribute towards the senior team as well, I think it's just amazing,” she added.
“I saw a few of the girls here on the stands today and the excitement on their faces to be able to play cricket and the ambition to actually play for the Proteas one day, I think it encourages them to actually pick up the bat and the ball and for KFC to actually help them achieve those goals, I think it's just amazing."
The 34-year-old has enjoyed a decent season at domestic level with the Lions, she says she is grateful to be a part of a club that is intentional about producing successful national team players.
"I have only been with Lions for an entire season and I must admit I think it's one of the best decisions I've actually made to move. We've got an amazing CEO, Jono Leaf, and I think that guy he's all for cricket, whether it's men or women's cricket, he just wants to develop cricket in general.
“I think it's great to see that we've got a few Lions here, it's always nice, you always feel a bit of home but yeah, I think this whole entire setup that they've got going there to build cricket in general for our country is amazing."
