Gayton McKenzie accused of not understanding fashion industry after his meeting with Shein
Fashion designer David Tlale said he doesn’t think Gayton McKenzie understands the complexities of the clothing and textile industry.
Presented by FNB Art Joburg in partnership with BMW Group South Africa, the highly anticipated third edition of the BMW Art Generation promises an immersive celebration of African creativity, legacy and cultural dialogue.
With the theme “A Tropology Between Image and Imagination”, this year’s event delves into how African artists use symbolism, gesture and form to reclaim histories and dream up speculative futures. Attendees can expect a rich blend of visual art, live music, panel discussions, and workshops that speak to the vibrancy and complexity of African identity and imagination.
The musical programme will be anchored by performances from legendary South African musician Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse and the genre-blending Msaki, whose ethereal vocals and socially conscious lyrics have made her one of the most important voices in contemporary African music.
Their performances are set to be a powerful tribute to the ongoing evolution of South African sound, linking the wisdom of past generations with today’s boundary-pushing musical experimentation.
The event also features a thought-provoking talks programme, giving audiences the chance to hear directly from some of the continent’s most acclaimed artists and thinkers.
