Gayton McKenzie accused of not understanding fashion industry after his meeting with Shein
Fashion designer David Tlale said he doesn’t think Gayton McKenzie understands the complexities of the clothing and textile industry.
Style took centre stage in Jozi as GQ South Africa returned with its annual Best Dressed Awards, marking an incredible 19 years of celebrating fashion and culture.
Hosted by Nomuzi Mabena alongside GQ’s Editor-in-Chief Molife Kumona, the night embraced a Sophiatown theme, a tribute to South Africa’s golden era of jazz, flair, and sophistication. From wide-brimmed hats to patterned suits and tailored cuts, the evening was a masterclass in how heritage and modernity can meet on the red carpet.
The awards recognised some of Mzansi’s most stylish stars. Among the winners were Springbok rugby star player Makazole Mapimpi, actor Thabang Molaba, 2025 Big Brother Mzansi winner Sweet Guluva, dapper dresser William Nkuna, and power couple Solo and Dineo Ntsizwa, who once again proved that elegance as a pair is a statement on its own. They were joined by many more personalities who lit up the evening, each representing the diversity and creativity of South African style.
Beyond the winners, the men in attendance came ready to impress, each look carrying a sense of individuality while honouring the nostalgia of the theme. True style is not only about what you wear, but how you wear it, and these gents proved that with confidence and flair.
