Go-see outfits are back and still fashion's most reliable style staple

Go-see outfits are back and still fashion's most reliable style staple

I've been wearing a go-see, a.k.a "model-off-duty" outfit for as long as I can remember — long before I even knew it had a name. If anything, it's still my go-to uniform on days when I have no idea what to wear but still want to feel pulled together.

Of all the Viral Fashion Trends making their rounds on TikTok, the return of the go-see outfit isn’t exactly surprising. It's effortless, timeless, and a welcome relief from trend fatigue.

We live in an era of curated aesthetics and over-styled OOTDs, so the go-see outfit feels like pressing pause on the pressure to be "on trend." For those unfamiliar with the term, a go-see outfit refers to the simple, fitted ensemble traditionally worn by models to casting calls — designed to highlight their natural features, body type, and Versatility.  Think fitted jeans or trousers, a plain t-shirt, classic shoes, and effortless hair.

Although the term was born in the modelling world, the look itself became a staple well beyond castings. In the '90s and early 2000s, it was the unofficial uniform of models off-duty and style icons on the rise. Think Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, or early-2000s Rihanna and Beyoncé in barely-there makeup and classic silhouettes.

While TikTok may have rebranded it as another aesthetic, the truth is, many of us have (and still do) relied on the go-see outfit for years. It’s unfussy, versatile, and still feels like you. And if you're not actually headed to a casting? Even better. You can make it your own — Jeans and a white tee with heels, slacks with a leather jacket, or even a monochrome co-ord with sneakers. The point is to look clean, effortless, and comfortable.
