Newly signed Kaizer Chiefs attacker Ethan Chislett says his homecoming game in Durban with Amakhosi is going to be a special occasion.
Chislett was born in Durban 26 years ago, and left with his parents for the UK at the age of seven.
He is now excited about the upcoming Toyota Cup pre-season game at the Moses Mabhida stadium.
A son of former Manning Ranger player Donovan Chislett, Ethan can’t wait to play in front of his home crowd.
"I think it's going to be a surreal experience. I remember as a kid, I watched a 2010 World Cup match in that stadium, so I simply cannot wait," said the new Chiefs midfielder.
Chiefs’ move for Chislett came just a few months after he had been strongly linked with Sekhukhune United, and they were at an advanced stage to sign him, but the deal didn’t materialise.
He reveals how Amakhosi pounced on the opportunity and what he brings to the club...
"I had a few offers from elsewhere, but once Chiefs were involved, I didn't want to go anywhere else.
"I bring creativity, but I'm also aware that you need goals to be successful in football, and I believe that I can rise to the occasion."
Chislett says he’s been following the Premier Soccer League a lot from England and notes how dominant Mamelodi Sundowns have been over the years...
"I've always taken notes on South African football, and I know that Mamelodi Sundowns have been doing really well in the league, but if there is any team that can knock them off their pedestal, it's Kaizer Chiefs."
Amakhosi fans also haven’t seen a lot of Chislett in action. He joined Kaizer Chiefs from English Division Two side Port Vale FC, where he played in the number 10 role.
