More wealthy South Africans are buying homes in Namibia, ranked as one of the safest countries in Africa, for tax benefits and permanent residency.
The Club Tijuana midfielder captained the U20 national team and was also part of the Banyana team that won the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Motau says being part of the national team means she must honour the opportunity that was given to her by the HPC.
"Grassroots football is so important. I was one of the fortunate ones to be included in SAFA's HPC programme, and I think that experience has equipped me with the necessary fundamentals to progress through the ranks," said the newly announced co-captain of the National team.
The African Champions are in Group C, together with Ghana, Tanzania, and Mali, with their opening fixture lined up against The Black Queens.
The Limpopo-born player says what has assisted with their preparations is the presence of a video analyst in camp who is helping them analyse the whole Ghana team.
"Thabo Nyamane is currently helping us analyse the opposition that awaits us in Morocco, but for now our analysis is focused on the team as a whole and not specific individuals," explained Motau.
Motau made a move to the Mexican side, Club Tijuana, from UWC in January after helping the university team reach the CAF Women’s Champions League.
She says playing abroad has really helped her grow and mature as a footballer.
