Springbok Women determined to topple mighty Canada
Springbok Women captain Nolusindiso Booi said her team will enter Loftus Versfeld with excitement and determination when they face Canada at 13:30 on Saturday.
Stellenbosch FC left back Fawaaz Basadien is again the subject of transfer interest, with his agent revealing to SABC Sport that two North African clubs are eager to sign the player this month.
The Bafana Bafana international remains contracted to Stellies on a long-term deal, but Basia Michaels says this has not stopped suitors from attempting to lure Basadien away from The Winelands.
Basadien was wanted by Kaizer Chiefs last season up until the transfer window closed and Amakhosi opted to sign Bradley Cross instead.
It’s unlikely that the Soweto giants will continue to push to get Basadien this time around having already signed Nkanyiso Shinga this week.
“Yes, it’s true that we’ve received what I could describe as a bid from two North African clubs for Fawaaz,” Michaels told the public broadcaster.
“We would consider any offer that can take the player to the next level, but we won’t be jumping into anything just yet – especially with the Afcon in mind. I’d like to also remind interested parties that Fawaaz is under contract at Stellies and they still hold all the cards. The North Africa proposal is quite lucrative though.”
It now remains to be seen whether a move will be manufactured before the start of the 2025/26 campaign or even on deadline day in September.
