Mozambique star Reinildo Mandava leaves Atletico Madrid, set for EPL move

Mozambique defender Reinildo Mandava has parted ways with Atletico Madrid and is set for a move to Premier League side Sunderland on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old's contract with the LaLiga club came to an end on June 30 after a four-year-stint and 103 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

According to reports, the left-back is set to join Premier League returnees Sunderland on a two-year deal ahead of the 2025/26 campaign despite links with Crystal Palace and Leeds United.

"Thank you so much to the club for giving me the opportunity to be part of the big Atlético de Madrid family," he said to Madrid media.

"Thank you to my teammates, who treated me so well from the moment I arrived. Thank you to captain Koke, who, from day one, even before we knew each other, came to visit me and made me feel as if I were living a dream.

"Finally, thank you to the fans for the immense affection they have always shown me and for giving me goosebumps so many times. They are the best in the world. I will always keep supporting this club."

The Black Cats are yet to announce his signing despite numerous reports of successful talks between The Mambas star and the English team.
